This project was about developing a package that reflects a product of a chosen culture. I chose to produce a high-end package for the Peruvian Andean doll, which has an interesting history in the Peruvian culture. The old Andean dolls were made out of tattered textile from pre-Columbian gravesites. In my package, I wanted to reflect the major contrast between the past and present by using only black for the package. The two colors, gold, and pink were chosen to reflect the doll’s old and modern versions. Furthermore, I wanted the customer to live the experience of finding the dolls by taking off the slides to find it. The package’s external structure was inspired by the Retablo, a wooden box used to tell stories in events. This package was designed to target Peru’s tourists and museums visitors.
